RITO

DESCRIPTION
RITO is an artistic installation born from a syncretic vision of dance and contemporary art. Drawing from ancient offerings to the gods
— particularly in Classical Greece and the Mixtec culture — and the influence of 20th-century dance avant-gardes on mythology, this piece becomes a fusion of dance and sculpture, taking place within the same space and time as a unified, immersive device.Dance: ephemeral, organic, elusive, alive.
Sculpture: material, ritualistic, circular, symbolic — enclosing, revealing, and yet shielding the dance from being touched, altered, or harmed.
From this work, SuicaFilms, Pepe Andreu, and Rafa Molés created the screendance short Rito – The Celebration of the Myth, which has received awards in several festivals.
