LA BANDA
-
DESCRIPTION
La Banda is an outdoor performance proposal for all ages, featuring original music by Raquel Molano, set design by Luis Crespo, costumes by Ana Esteban, dramaturgy by Lucas Escobedo, choreography by Asun Noales, and stage direction by Escobedo and Noales.

This is the first street performance created by OtraDanza, combining dance and circus into a vibrant, playful, and immersive experience.
La Banda is a nomadic and chaotic family: five eccentric and delightful characters who couldn’t be more different from one another, yet perfectly complement each other.
Breaking molds and escaping any sense of structure or limitation, La Banda celebrates teamwork, connection, and shared experience. They work together, have fun, exchange knowledge, and prove that differences can strengthen unity.
This metaphor of collaboration, embodied by La Banda, reclaims a space for sharing — a reminder to live, coexist, and reinvent ourselves through simplicity and subtlety. Connection, adaptability, and creativity are the driving forces behind this performance.
Through choreography, music, dramaturgy, acrobatics, juggling, dance, and circus, the piece creates a unique dialogue where disciplines feed into one another. It finds common ground by embracing diversity, transculturalism, innovation, and hybrid forms — blending past, present, and collective experience.Five performers — two men and three women — bring the story to life through a physical and tactile vocabulary, where the body speaks and the mind responds. A choral dramaturgy highlights the richness of individuality within the collective, elevating the idea of La Banda as the sum of many voices.
The soundscape moves between raw guitars, electronic textures, and playful voices, oscillating between tension and tenderness, surrealism and joy. Costumes draw inspiration from the past while embracing a contemporary aesthetic, and the transformative set design becomes an active performer in its own right.
All these elements converge in La Banda — a humorous, dynamic, and deeply physical performance that invites audiences to rethink what it means to belong, share, and create together.
OtraDanza has received production support from the Institut Valencià de Cultura, amounting to €22,707. -
