DIEZ SONETOS A danced encounter with the eternal voice of Garcilaso de la Vega.
For Garcilaso, love is both wound and revelation. His verses speak of absence and longing, of the eternal struggle between reason and passion, of time that slips away and the idyllic landscapes of nature — silent witnesses to the poet’s most secret emotions. In his words, there is faith in a transcendence, but not the Christian afterlife: rather, a pagan eternity, closer to the earth, the senses, and the fleeting breath of life.
The sonnets we have chosen are eternal, human, and divine. Searching for movement within the poet’s words is a daring exercise, but we have attempted it through ten “Garcilasos” — ten landscapes and danced scenes, intertwined with his verses in voice-over narration and the timeless compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach.
