Romeo and Juliet is a production by the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante in collaboration with OtraDanza and ADDA Simfònica.
Featuring Prokofiev’s original score, performed live by the ADDA Simfònica of Alicante under the direction of maestro Josep Vicent, with stage direction and choreography by the renowned creator Asun Noales.This luminous drama for twelve dancers — six men and six women — surrenders to the intensity of Shakespeare’s masterpiece and to the overwhelming plasticity, creativity, and poetic physicality into which Noales draws us so movingly.
Noales approaches the conflict from multiple angles — the body, the technique, and the emotion. Seeking a dance that tells the truth without hiding behind movement but becoming movement itself, the work unfolds a choreographic language that embraces the complexity and contrasts defining both the story and its characters.
The attraction and pure love between the protagonists transcend deep-rooted hatred and entrenched conflicts, overcoming vengeance and placing flesh, passion, and desire at the very heart of the narrative.Romeo and Juliet speaks to us of the inevitability of destiny and the eternal presence of death — a fate paid with their own lives. The tragic death of these two innocent young lovers becomes the only closure to generations of human resentment and wounds.
